38Pres, Glad you found this place. You're gonna enjoy the time spent here. Your profile didn't indicate what you collect so I'm assuming U.S. and including U.S. Revenues? This is a great place to find out things and there are some great U.S. Revenue collectors here. Concerning the Narcotic Tax stamps, the 2011 Scott's catalog identifies the strip stamps as the RJA42 & the RJA46. However, it's kinda hard to tell without knowing the actual size in as they come in 4 different lengths and there is no way to determine the length in your scans. Perhaps if you were to add additional identifications such as NT1, NT2, NT3 or NT4. Art |

I collect these also but can't tell from your scans exactly what they are. Great score though! |

Quote: be kind to a newbie NO! Never! Just kidding! Before we go any further trying to find a catalog # You first need to check to see if they are watermarked! I would never assume that the prior owner checked or cataloged them correctly! Since you are asking for assistance I would assume You agree. So, check them and then we can proceede. |

Revstampman - I will check for watermarks.
Art - been here awhile - just 'bashful' to post - but reading and trying to learn since I moved away from my local stamp club and there's no clubs in the area I live in now. :-( This forum has been a great place to learn - not to mention seeing all the stamps and identifying information.
My interests are in the US stamps, revenues, pnc's and the 38 Presidential group...
I_Love_Stamps - will measure them as I check for watermarks.
Thanks for the repsonse.

The top eight cent is the only one with a watermark that I can find in the entire lot. |

OK, Starting on the top left and going down: RJA79b (x2) RJA52b RJA84b RJA44b (I bet this stamp IS watermarked) RJA47b (I bet this stamp IS watermarked) RJA47b (I bet this stamp IS watermarked) RJA54b (I bet this stamp IS watermarked) RJA51b (I bet this stamp IS watermarked) RJA76b And the Mini's are a mix of RJA42b(Violet) & d(Purple) Another mystery solved Class is now in session!
Your homework is to answer the following. The is: How do I know that the marked stamps are actually watermarked? Free Narcotic Stamp or 2 or 3(maybe more?) to the 1st Correct answer from a NON-Revenue specialist. |

I'll take a shot ... because the stamps noted as "I bet this stamp IS watermarked" were the only versions of the stamp printed for these issues. There were no "unwatermarked" varieties. |

wt1, Excellent guess. But, no that is not correct. They were printed on both watermarked and Unwatermarked paper. Stay tuned! I will post the answer tonight if no one get's it. It is actually quite easy! But does require some thinking! Help me give away more stamps and make my Wife happy! |
