I would have posted this in Worldwide revenues,
but thought it deserved a special mention.

This item was donated to all members of the
Cinderella Club of Australasia.

This from a fellow who lost his Stamp Collection
in the recent Australian Bush fires.
The generosity is fantastic, and why I enjoy the
camaraderie of collectors over the world.

Snip:

The Giveaway for this issue deserves special comment. Most members will remember the unfortunate circumstances which affected long standing member Norm Hart. After all his losses in the Victorian fires, Norm is back into the hobby to the extent that he has supplied this fascinating giveaway, an Indian revenue stamped sheet. It is not so very long ago you received Rhodesian Railways stamps per courtesy of Norm.. .he lost all of his own Rhodesian collection and we hold his generous sample. You will get one of three different examples...if you want another, I am holding a few extras, and I can send you another (SAE and say which you received). Norm advises further that if these really are your cup of tea he has even more, and will be pleased to trade with you... write to me and I will forward your request.

Hello Rod
Cinderella are not my cup of tea but I would like to make a gift to Norm. Losing a stamp collection is such a terrible thing for a collector. What if I ship it to you and you forward to Norm? I hope he will accept. That should be by the end of the week. Nice from you to help Norm.

I can certainly do that Daniel,
I was hesitant myself when the event happened
I think Norm is an advanced collector (or was)
and I was apprehensive what I had to offer would
not appeal. He had some great donations I believe.
I should remember that it is the thought that counts of course.

He will get Poland B40 mnh. Nobody bid on it in my auction. I can't believe everything gone in the bush fire. Now Norm is a rebirthing collector! Now time to bed. I spend many many hours on SCF today, must be cherish by the Gods.

The bushfires hit the collecting fraternity here very hard. Gary Brown, one of Victoria's most senior and respected collectors, lost not his collection, but his son, daughter-in-law and their children in the fires. These things put one's own little misfortunes into proper perspective.

(Edited out an embarrassing mistake over names)

hope Gary has allot of support. Maybe you can send a message to him in the name of our Community since you wrote about him on the forum. A card maybe... But it's no obligation just do how you feel.

Timbres667, I'll pass on your thoughts next time I see Gary.

This thread on Stampboards http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopi...f=13&t=10817 was running as the news was coming out about the fires. When the thread started, noone knew about the deaths, but as the thread develops, word comes through. It makes very sad reading. So very much was lost that Saturday.
