My latest illegible spray-on cancel.

I had recently ordered something that required me to provide a self-addressed stamped envelope, so I thought I would use the recently issued Edward Hopper stamp (with plate number selvage) and get a nice postmark on it in return. Instead, I get this. Typical of today's post office sorting equipment, I guess ... Good thing no one had need to verify the date or location of the postmark!

--- there's no such thing as a nice postmark (at least not a modern one)

I understand your pain.
It's hard to get a decent cancel on stamps in Australia too.
They usually end up with a smudge across them.
Like this..

Or like this, when they ask you to "Collect Australian Stamps".
I would if I could find a decent one!
