Jamestown, NY Dle Type 247 Precancel Punctuation Error?

Is this a known error in the punctuation of "N.Y." where a hyphen is used instead of a period after the letter "N"?

Yes, this error occurred on subjects 25 and 30 of the 100 subject electroplate. So 2% have this error. The DLE catalog says these have 4x the value of the same denom without the error. The DLE catalog lists and prices every DLE stamp with a DLE precancel. Please review the rules.
