Hi everyone!

My name is Fernando and I currently live in the Azores (Portugal) but was born in Canada.

I Hope to learn much in this forum so that I can continue to add to my collection of Portuguese and Canadian stamps.

Hello fernmato, welcome!

I am starting to explore the hexagon cancellations (postmarks) on some Portuguese and colonies stamps. Probably for airmail if the same usage as Spanish ones but I am not sure.

Thats right Puzzler, the octagonal cancellations were used to obliterate air mail.

I was not aware thar Spain used the same type of cancellation. Was this typical of other european countries?

I do not have any of either yet, at least that I know of, quite a mess here at times!

Nice example, haven't seen that one before.

Here is a page from ebay cropped down to just include an octagon and two hexagons.



It would be just the hexagonal ones I am after, nice though the octagons are.
