Hi all,

Could anyone recommend an online stamp dealer? I am new to the field and trying to figure out possible sources to buy stamps. I tried to google but was a bit overwhelmed with all the information. I would appreciate any feedback! (If posting a company name is considered as an ad on the forum, then this could go through private messages. Thanks!).

Welcome to SCF, ursus.

There are only two US stamp dealers that I have dealt with that have an online presence. I do business with both.

They are:

Bel Aire Collectibles
http://www.belairestamp.com/

Golden Valley Stamp and Coin
http://www.smartcart.com/gvstamps/welcome.htm

Bel Aire has a large worldwide inventory online, and hosts mail bid auctions throughout the year.

Golden Valley only sells US and UN stamps through their online store, but also hosts online stamp and box lot auctions, each with worldwide material.

Good luck with your stamp purchases!

That really is a hard question. Because of the internet today there are many dealers or auction sites. Best bet find what you like through a search then maybe ask one of the forums on a particular one. I have at least 50 different dealers I use depending on what I am looking for or who has the best copy and price. The game has changed since brick and mortar dealers.

Forgot to add some companies are just retail plus and I would stay away from these. They are really set up with the hope of filching the pockets of new collectors. There is always someone who has the same or better stamp and is willing to deal.
