I can't tell if I could just soak that paper in the top corner off or if it was somehow repaired in the past. There's also a similar piece on the bottom.

I already soaked it to get the hinge off (I'm in the process of putting all my pre 1930 stamps in mounts now). Should I just leave it alone or try soaking it again to see if that paper traces float off by themselves

I once soaked what looked like a decent 2 cent early canadian vic only to have it split in 2 after all was lifted. It does look like possibly a corner repair was done and considering it is a very well centered copy if you can live with it I'd leave it alone. It may drive you nuts knowing but unless you have replacement ready it sure does face up nice.

Could be just a small thin, albeit in an odd location? That's a very good repair if infact it is one. Nice stamp too! I still need me one of those. Nice score!

Nice well-centered stamp that would cause one to overlook some of the minor defects, as it would be difficult to replicate that stamp for a reasonable amount.
