Once in a while the combination of a simple cancellation on a simple stamp design results in an oddity as shown on this stamp in my collection.
Not only did the cancellation leave the girl's image unscathed (except a few of the "goldilocks"), but placed a line between the eyes and nose of each of the three other children

Cancellation oddities do happen and they can sometimes make for a rather interesting side collection.

Here's a classic one I've posted before, but it still interests me. It seems that the image of Theodore Roosevelt looked a bit odd, but upon closer examination, the period (.) in the cancellation hit the President right in his eye making for this cancellation oddity:

I'm not sure if the USPS was trying to send a message to Washington, but breeches used buttons.

This seems a likely place to post this. The stamps have owls top right. One looks at the Queen and one looks at You.

The effect is a small color shift. This stamp issue had two of the three values printed on two printing machines ... Timson on the right, Thrissell on the left. Just for complete-ists maybe... but interesting to see the differences.

Seems counter-productive for Australia Post to have promoted the slogan "Install a Telephone" as shown on this cancellation:

This one has also been here before, but we have lots of new people, so...

Looks like someone popped him in the eye with a left hook.

Maybe that owl is keeping an eye on that squirrel - no telling what the squirrel would do - given a chance.

Known in some Philatelic quarters as the 'Shifty Eye' Owl Error !

Whatever, it's very cute.

Whenever I look at this stamp, it reminds me of the Sta-Puf marshmallow man in Ghost Busters. I call this "Frosty the Snowman Attacks Captain Cook's Fleet."
