I have no idea why ebay is blocking my access to this item:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-U-S-83...em2a14883347

This is the message I get when I click on the listing:

'Unfortunately, access to this particular item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in some countries. We are blocking your viewing in an effort to prevent restricted items from being displayed. Regrettably, in some cases, we may prevent users from accessing items that are not within the scope of said restrictions because of limitations of existing technology. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, and we hope you may find other items of interest on ebay.'

As I wish to buy this item, I would appreciate it if someone could have a look at it and identify the seller to me so I can approach him/her directly about this problem.

Otherwise, perhaps, someone could buy it on my behalf? Pls send me a message if you're willing to do that.

It's a very strange online marketplace that blocks your access to items listed for sale on it!

I don't see anything in this lot that could possibly cause it to be banned. I don't even see the word "nazi" anywhere in the listing, so I have no clue. If you can't reach the seller for some reason, let me know. The link is to all listings by this seller.

Brian

ebay seller ID: vikki437

http://www.ebay.com/sch/vikki437/m....=p4340.l2562

buy-it-now price of $10.

From the listing:

Quote:
This is a very interesting original 2 page WWII letter written in Germany on the 12th of May 1945, only four days after VE Day, by an American soldier in the 308th Engineer Combat Battalion of the 83rd Infantry Division. There is interesting content, including a very bitter segment in which this soldier expresses his belief that the army was going to break certain promises which had been made to the soldiers while they were fighting. This man was very lonely and wanted to go home, and he was frustrated that the army appeared to have no plan in place to get it's soldiers back home to the United States:

"I am just fine, thank the good Lord, but honey I am still so lonesome for you I can't hardly stand it. But I will be home with my darling one of these days soon, I believe. We still don't know what they are going to do with us. I don't believe they want us to come home. They wanted us to fight and promised us everything and in the end we don't get anything but a disappointment. But they won't keep us here always, surely. I love you so honey. The good Lord will bring me home one of these days. I hope and pray it is soon...

Honey. they are trying to work your little man's butt plum off. But I will do anything if it will bring me home to you any faster."

The letter was written by P.F.C. Rex Hamby of Company A, 308th Engineer Combat Battalion. Hamby served in five campaigns in the E.T.O. after landing in Normandy in 1944.

jimjamtwo,

I've seen this before. Let's do some troubleshooting...

Go to this link which shows what headers your browser is sending, then please post what Accept Language your browser is set to.

EDIT: And also what browser you're using.

PostmasterGS, I tried again with a different browser on a different computer and everything is normal now.

I was able to purchase the item.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Then it's likely the language settings on the first browser that's causing the problem. ebay's software looks at the language headers of your browser to determine whether you're in a country where certain items are restricted. For example, if you set your browser to German, a lot of WWII and Nazi items won't show up.

Rileysan, my browser is not set to German, so that can't be the reason.

Do you think there could be a reason why I can't bid for bluehal's items? When I try to bid for his items, I get the following message:

This seller has set buyer requirements for this item and only sells to buyers who meet those requirements.

You are unable to bid on or buy this item because:

You either don't have a PayPal account or your PayPal account is not linked to your ebay account. We encourage you to register with PayPal - it is the fast, easy and safe way to pay.

However, my ebay account IS linked to my PayPal account.

What's more, ebay has set it up so that I cannot even sent a message to this selller to enquire as to the nature of the problem.

bluehal is losing a lot of business as a result. I would have spent over $100 on his items today if my bids had been accepted.

It's a strange online marketplace that won't let you spend your money.

I shall probably just buy the same items from a seller on Delcampe now.

No, that's an unrelated issue.

Take a look at this thread. If you've completed all those steps, it should work.

Dear friend:

I will try to buy any item from ebay too and I had the same problem than you had.

In my case, I was loggin as a user from Cuba and ebay don´t let to cuban users to buy any item from them. It are their policies.

Paypal never let cuban people can be their users too.

Maybe you have in a similar case to mine.

Regards.
