When I list an item on the SCF I do so much better sales wise than on the Gigantic...EBay with all its viewers..thats with 4 or 5 regular people I deal with here..vs. the hundreds of thousands on ebay...unbelievable !!

So do I Phil. ebay has become a bit of a dud. Plus they've been with holding money from sales for 21 days! So even when I sell there, I can't touch the money. Looking at other options. |

Jamesw I just do not feel the collector to collector contact on ebay..its like walking through a flea market where people put unrealistic prices on items...there are a few dealers who start everything off at 99 cents and let the market determine the value..those items usually get bid up..if I were wise I would just bookmark those users and forget the junk guys !! |

Paypal states that they may withold payment until the buyer leaves a positive feedback ! As 50% of ebayers [at least] don't bother with feedback, where does that leave my money ? ! More in the paypal coffers ? Back to the buyer ? I can write and ask but I need an answer before Christmas ! Guess I'll just scrub the listing Londonbus1 |

I think you have to wait for 30 days or something until they release your funds if you do not receive feedback. |

If this is the case, then I have to say it's totally ridiculous. I do nothing wrong. I list a genuine item at a good price. Someone buys it but doesn't give a Monkey's about feedback. So ebay assume I am in the wrong even though they already know that at least 50% of buyers [and sellers] do not leave feedback ! What kind of rule is that ? And then if you try to write to either ebay or Paypal, you are again banging your head against a brick wall waiting for a reply. I asked some very serious questions a while ago about certain sellers. I received a reply about 7 weeks later [automated] and long after I had solved the problems with the sellers concerned. Still, I will write to them both and ask them where it leaves me financially. Talk about innocent until proven innocent ! Except ebay think you're guilty ! Doesn't leave a very good feeling does it. Londonbus1 |

I agree Mr Bus. I too did nothing wrong. The site says that my funds are on hold because I haven't established a successful sales history with ebay. Had been selling for almost a year, doing not great but ok, when they changed their rules last spring, and put more limits and fees on listings. As a result, I list fewer item. As a result, I sell fewer items. I've tried to contact them but their toll free number doesn't work from Canada. Emails are either unanswered or I'm sent the same message that I get on the website. Which of course is no answer. It's great when you own the company you can change the rules to suite your self, and then punish your clients for not complying with the rules. Like dealing with an insurance company (no offense to any insurance sellers out there). |

I was thinking of trying to sell off some of the stuff (duplication etc) that I've been accumulating here in the desert. The things that has put me off is paypal and their ridiculous "verify your account" nonsense. It took me multiple emails and phone calls from here in Oman to the people at paypal hq (whereever that is) to get things straightened out... and that involved sending them a scan of my passport! I can only imagine what it would be like to try to get a seller's account through them. Just out of curiosity, why does ebay value "feedback" so much? It's not like some sellers don't make more than one ebay account and "spike" their auctions. What keeps them from leaving "positive feedback" also? |

They may value feedback but are not in the least bit bothered that so many don't give it. It is not believable that Paypal [ ebay] can write this about Feedback in their Rules/laws when half of their customers don't give a s**t about it. If someone buys their iten from me then doesn't leave me feedback and I don't get my money, why should the buyer be bothered. It most cases, he won't even know that I haven't been paid. I wonder what Paypal are doing with the money in the interim ? Londonbus1 |

I'm actually stunned about all this! It is unbelievable that such unethical & outright ludichrist "rules" be added to their already insane fees and practices...I was toying with selling some crap on ebay but now - nuh-uh, NO- way, No-sir-ee-bob! Thank you for the heads up. |

I think that in the end ebay looks after ebay. Everything they do is to look after themselves. Self preservation in the changing currents, etc, etc. It is the way it is. I know I get frustrated with all the rules and guidelines and such. I mean, I know I'm a good guy, but I am paying the price for those who haven't the skills to be reasonable and honest and conduct themselves with a bit of integrity. Ah well, at least I know that what I'm doing is the best I can do most of the time. The other 49% of the time I am learning. |

Hello, I have been a seller on ebay for many years and rode the changes until they brought in the amazing policy of not allowing sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers. My listings on ebay nowadays are few and far between. ebay basically does what it wants but unfortunately it is still the biggest by far....healthy competition would be nice! Best wishes, |

I have heard this before and mentioned this before...apparently stamps and stamp collectors are not an important source of income to ebay...well ebay and Paypal still take their cut when I do sell something..it has to add up !! |

Not being able to leave negative feedback as a seller is just pure crap. There are some terrible buyers out there, and you can't "penalize" them anymore. |
