I woke up in the middle of the night with this idea, but I'm not sure if it's worth pursuing. Any help, especially from people with military experience, would be much appreciated.

Here's the idea:

Make up packets to send to the troops overseas-

The packets would include stamps, hinges, a small album made from stapled graph paper, and an information sheet about the hobby (how to hinge, how to collect, links to stamp related websites, etc) and a stamp supply catalog.

My thought is that if these guys (and gals) have any free time, they might get interested in stamp collecting if the supplies are there.

Here are the questions:

Do soldiers have free time?!

How do I find a group (don't know the proper military word)
to send to?

Is this even realistic?

I would love to try and get the support of local clubs.
Maybe they could pick a local unit that is overseas to work with.

Any ideas and comments would be most welcome!

Aimee

A group exists already that does exactly as you wish to do. I'll hunt up the contact info, which is eluding me this very moment.

I can't remember the rules for posting URLs here, but I'm going to poist about this charitable activity anyway, from the post that brought it to my attention.

Thanks for the replies.

I knew about the stamps for veterans program.
I was thinking about stamps for people that are
on active duty.

Is there a program for this already?
