The club had a mini-auction this past week and I picked up a few Alaskan Airmail covers including the following:
Nov 7, 1946 cover to a Mr S. June in Ruby, Alaska. From Hot Springs, Alaska and signed by the local Postmaster in the lower, left corner. No letter included. I do not believe the return address is the origination point, as the only other cancel is on the back and is from Ruby, AK.
A couple of comments ...
- What is/was "Emergency Airmail"?
- How common/uncommon is this cover?
- This is standard first class postage on the cover. Is this the correct postage? Why no airmail stamp?
Thanks!
Brian
