I found this website an interesting read on the history of Discontinued Post Offices of Eldorado County, California, most of which were in place during the famed California Gold Rush period:

Nice. I should dig out some of those cancels and share with the group, if there is any interest. I collect California cancels as well as all the other stuff!.
