This is part of a set of post cards my father brought back from WWII. Dad was in the 82nd Airborne Division, 319th Glider Field Artillery. He participated is all actions of the 82nd ABN from Normandy to occupation duty in Berlin. Dad toured the Berlin complex and found these cards somewhere. There are no stamps and I included the back of the first card in the set. Dad even had his photograph taken while standing on the high dive platform. They are a bit over sized from the post cards we are familiar with. The rest will follow in a subsequent post....

For some reason, I am unable to post the rest of the cards. The "Upload Image" button does not give me the format to do so.

Greg, first welcome to SCF. Nice cards, the Berlin olympics was as much a publicity and propaganda event as it was a sporting event. It was a great facility built for the games.

With today being Veterans Day, I would like to recognize your father's service. The 319th had a difficult mission on D-Day with Ste. Mare Eglise. They were definitely our greatest generation!

For uploading make sure there are no special character in the file name.

Thanks Russ,

...I'll try again...

I have a couple more but this gives you the idea. One can just imagine Jesse Owens streaking around this track passing everyone for the Gold!

I just realized these are not American in the "Made in" variety, but since they were "liberated" by an American soldier, they suddenly became American. I'll watch it closer next time.

Welcome to the forum Greg

It is no wonder that the postcards of the TR are so popular and this is mainly because of their different designs.

You have some great cards. Maybe you should expand on that area and build a collection?

Happy collecting
