Got any proprietary revenues (the regular government issues, not private die) issued before the Battleships of 1898? I would love to see them! I have just a scant few. RB4a, the 4c. The corner broke off tonight when I looked at the back to make sure it wasn't on green paper .

I would never have thought that one could get such a clear... how should I say, lifelike scan at only 800 dpi. |

That's what I love about the Epson V500 (I have two of them). It really captures surface detail and texture extremely well, especially when you disable autoexposure and don't blow out the highlights. |

wt1 & ILS - great looking revenue collections! revenuecollector - Wonderful proprietary stamps! These are tough to find nice. Benton's Pine Tree Tar Troches! What a great company cancel! The one dollar stamp is a showpiece! SPECTACULAR! Here are a few more proprietary stamps in my collection: |

Well it looks like the V500 is way better than my Perfection 4490 and probably also the V300. On my scans the surface texture is missing. I can't disable autoexposure and perhaps that is why the stamp paper looks too white, and eliminates the texture of the paper. So you have two. For double protection? |

Nicely centered RB8! Shame about the pinhole. Actually, that's a spot I still need to fill in my collection. I've seen quite a few, but none that I really liked. It's a stamp that is almost always found beat to hell and back or is horribly centered. One more I forgot to post. You can see what I mean by blown-out highlights. It's from before I disabled autoexposure and started manually adjusting levels. I need to reimage this one.: |

Nice stuff t360. The engraving on these (specially the 50c) is just amazing.
In my next life I think I'll start collecting revenues. |

Quote: Nicely centered RB8! Shame about the pinhole. Pinhole? Where? I don't see it and there is no pinhole visible on the back. Maybe the dark spot near the 'S' in the cancellation? That appears to be an "inclusion body" in the green paper. |

Ahh, ok. My bad. It looked like the blackness of the background shining through (I do all scans on a black background, so a pinhole would show up in my pics as a black spot). |
