Strange Mark On Back (Mouse)?

I ahve noticed this mark on the back of at least a dozen revenue stamps. Any ideas as to why and/or what?

This is a R55 (those look like red threads to me?)

Probably an expertizing or dealers mark.

Here's a great website about expertizing marks. They don't have all of them of course, but it never hurts to look.

I'm guessing an owner's mark. A practice from the past that I'm glad is gone. I've seen far too many instances of the owner's mark bleeding through to the front of the stamp. I have far less of a problem with someone writing lightly in pencil...
