This is a long post (graphics), but one some of you may find educational.

In 1982, two (maybe more) commercial airline services, here Western Airlines, opened a service of private flown mail between points served by the airline with 48 hour delivery guaranted anywhere in the zip codes show below. The fee was $1.00 in addition to the regualr USPS postage rate.

Below are the 4 Series items, both envelope and mint item. The last image is the zip code delivery chart.

Western Airline (Airletter) was the first one issued February 15, 1982, then ended in 1984 with 16 stamps.

Burlington Northern Airfreight (Airletter)was first issued August 30, 1982 ending in 1983 with 6 stamps.

American Express (Airletter) were issued 3 stamps all on January 10, 1982.

PRIDE ie Prompt Response Insurance Delivery Express (Airletter) all 7 issues released on February 28, 1983.
