1955 is a year and DD is a bra size. Thus, the joke.

Glad to see my humor wasn't totally lost on all :)

With regard to your question on the FDCs, most of the value in the period you have will involve tagging so you'll need a UV lamp to detect them

Tomiseki, were you referring to Canada stamps when you made the UV comment?

Thank you for the suggestions, Steve. I'm thinking, "Holy Mackerel...a UV lamp, too?"

JHS, there is no tagging to concern yourself with on US stamps. To answer your question, it is highly unlikely there are any FDCs of any value in your collection. However, by using a movie quote from Dumb And Dumber, I will illustrate that it's still worth looking through ...

My paraphrase:

Quote:
(Jim Carry to Mary Swanson) "What if I were the last man on Earth? Would you date me, then?"

(Mary Swanson)"I suppose ... if you were the last man on Earth)

later on ...

(Jeff Daniels)"Well, what did she say?"

(Jim Carry) Excitedly: "She said there's a chance!!"

Never give up hope!

Brian

Maybe he sold them for " a pretty sum" and forgot to tell us.

I agree 100% with Phil. So many people come on this site in the expectation of making a killing
from the thousands of "valuable" stamps inherited from grandpa or found in the attic or picked up at a garage sale.

They must have been watching American Pickers, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars on TV.

Then you get the ones who expect that they can learn everything
about stamps in a couple of hours. Things which has taken many
of us decades to learn and are still learning.

Silvia Gredenberg was born in Vienna and after graduating from high school she initially studied at the University of Applied Art, Graphics and Painting. Three years later however, she turned to more pragmatic realms and began studies in business administration at the Vienna University of Economics where she completed her doctorate in 1975. She worked professionally in several sectors such as journalism, advertising, banking and insurance before becoming established as a tax consultant, a profession she has since practised with great drive and ambition.

Do we have a nude Thread? I just googled nude stamps and a whole world opened up! I never thought about that topic...

This is a beautiful sheet of 1 stamp, issued in 2005 by Congo, illustrating nude artwork by Fernando Botero. The sheet is Post Office fresh, mint never hinged.

Congo

Youngboy Vienna Austria

Her unmistakeable handwriting is a marked indicator of her personality. Born under the sign of Aquarius on January 27, 1955, Cornelia Schlesinger is a self-taught artist who has established her position on the art scene by means of the staging of her own self. Her education, grammar school in Vienna and civil engineering technical college in Innsbruck, is in apparent contradiction to her artistic talents, nevertheless it gave her artistic tendencies the encouragement they needed. Her drawings and sketches were appreciated and collected by teachers and fellow-pupils alike.

Wow full frontal male nudity on a stamp.
Those Austrians, they'll put anything on a stamp just
to make a buck.

What's the world coming to?

Do not know...it is stamp where 25 cents go to a social cause.

From the Internet.
A scandal is still not to be expected: the on the 55 x 33 mm large torn paper presented well-formed body come from spring of Vicco von Bülow aka Loriot. It shows the unclothed businessmen Müller Lüdenscheidt and Dr. Klöbner together in a hotel bathtub, which both claim. With "The talking dog", "on the track" and "The separately" are three more well-known scenes from Loriot sketches depicted on the now upcoming charity.

and the rest of the story.

I never really thought of nude stamps before until this thread. Interesting what is out there. Honestly, one looks at them and put them away..
I have never seen in my career two naked German business men at one time. In bathtub or out, and therefore I enjoy this stamp. It puts a smile on my face!
