Thanks every for your reply. I am trying to start a club in our small town. Couple more questions if you don't mind.
1- How many members in your club?
2- Do you have officers Pres, VP, Treasurer, Sec, Etc.
3- Is your Club well organized APS?
4- Do you have an Executive Committee?

jamesw - Yes, I was accepted in the October meeting. We must have met and I've known for some time that you were from Barrie based on something you posted. Leaving Monday to snowbird and we'll meet at the April 2012 meeting.

We meet once a month and fees are $20.00 annually for individuals or $25.00 for family.

We used to meet twice a month but found out that this was affecting turnout. Since we went to once a month about 3 years ago, we have been averaging between 80% to 90% of the club's roster turn up at all the meetings.

No one seemed to want to give a group of middle aged and senior citizens a place to meet..i guess they were afraid we would vandelize the place or else they wanted umbrella insurance which we could not afford...finally one of our members who belongs to the local Veterans of Foreign wars got us a place to meet in their hall...this was very much appreciated..we give them a voluntary donation of 50 dollars per quarter and some of the members appreciate the bar with its 2 dollar shots of Wild Turkey !!

I belong to three clubs: one is strictly local, in the city of Barcelona. We've our own (rented) premises, we pay 50 € (70 $) per year, and I ussually go once a week.
Another one is in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, about 15 km (10 miles)from Barcelona. I normally go there once a month. I pay 20 € (26 $)/year.
The last one is in Ripoll (100 km, 85 miles, from Barcelona). I go there twice a year. I pay about 15 €/year.
You should note that here, distances use to be quite short, and some elderly people don't even drive. So, 85 miles is a long way.
