I'm curious if someone can explain to me why this seemingly simple Brazil lot with a $40 reserve is bid up to $750. I know the site well, and most items rarely sell for more than 20% of catalogue value. Is there some great philatelic rarity here?

Brian

Wow. Going to watch this one count down. The seller must be thrilled!

edit - a quick glance at my 2003 Scott's shows the 608a with the watermark error has a value (2003) of $650. No doubt has gone up in the last 8 years.

Either that or wondering what he or she missed.

Ended at $750. I looked up a 608a and it catalogues for $1200 (2010). Still, I can't help feel like there's something I'm missing ... that's too high % of catalogue value for this site.

Perhaps there's something special about the US APO cover from Brazil?
