Sorting again stamps to be put in the albums I found several
with an overprint.
Any interesting overprint on a stamp maybe a nice thread to learn
more about these different overprints.

The first liberation cancels appeared on the first day of the revolt against the Czechs (Sept. 21, 1938).

Some of these had obviously been prepared in advance.

In the enthusiasm of being "liberated" many cities made their own cancels and there is a wide variation in inscriptions, however the German Regional Head Offices in the areas nearest to the zones of the occupied territory did supply some of the nearby Sudetenland cities with cancels.



Still one the most historical stamp I have.

a name change for the country, from Democratic Federal Yugoslavia to Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.

don't know if these would count, they were re-valued with a surcharge for Red Cross Tuberculosis research.

Thanks,kuhli, yes it counts. It is the same stamp.

Former Bavarian stamps with overprint Sarre. These brands were in the territories of the former Bavarian Palatinate in the now new Saar region to issue.

Pakistan state Bahawalpur 1949 UPU issue with OFFICIAL overprint. More attractive (to my western eyes anyway) than the usual SERVICE used on Pakistan officials.

Oh, the damage I could do on an overprint thread... The Germans were particularly fond of overprints due to their numerous occupations and colonies.

Here is an interesting one:
On 11 July 1960 Moise Tchombé appointed (suppoerted by the Belgians) President of Katanga (to the South of later Zaire) Independent since 15 January 1963. This State was not recognised internationally and later came back to Congo.

The United States takes over the Kingdom of Hawaii and sets up Provisional Government. Overprints 1893

too lazy to crop them all out LOL . I love the overprinted early US issues. Philipines, Puerto(Porto)Rico, Cuba, etc..
