Stamp collectors will delight (NOT!) in the fact that the first 2012 stamps scheduled to be issued are on January 3, 2012 and it is not even a stamp that most of us will use -- it's a 25c Presorted First Class Coil that is only available in 3K and 10K rolls for mass mailers, with six face different stamps. Isn't this another issue where one would need 13 stamps for a proper plate number usage, with the different designs on either side of the plate number? Storage becomes such a problem with collecting such a large strip. Oh well, as least the color "spectrum" is pretty: For those of us who still collect plate number coils, they will be on every 30th stamp. I'm not yet sure how many stamps the USPS will require collectors to buy in order to seek out those plate numbers.

This is exactly why I stopped my collection at around 1979 wt1. I'm sick of being barraged with the innumerable amount of new stamp issues that are totally pointless to try to keep up with. All I can say is "completist have fun" but for me- I'm out. They are attractive colors though. -Jeff |

The strip is sort of attractive, but this is what you'll see on an envelope: (Best I could get in cropping out one and enlarging it a bit.) Not much about that stamp appeals to me. |

What do the 5 stars stand for?
This is definitely another uninspired design. |

I guess I am in the minority. I PREFER the "useless" issues. I am truely tired of the flag stamps and the President stamps, they have been overdone so many many times. I will purchase the things in strips of 25 from the PO, and use what I don't keep on outgoing mail. I will note that it isn't the most attractive design, but very few of the newer issues are. Making up the proper postage will be a trick (will take several designs to get there) but I will probably just use 2 of the (50 cents worth) and give the PO a boost. |

The point is that you have to be an "authorized mailer" to use these Presort Stamps. Consumers aren't allowed to use them unless they apply for a precancel stamp use permit. |

Already have a precancel use permit. Doesn't cost anything but a few minutes of your time.. |

An update for collectors: When placing an order today (12/21/2011) with USPS Stamp Fulfillment Services, I inquired about this Presort Eagle issue and whether or not they were making available a limited strip of coil stamps for collectors (without having to buy the 3K or 10K full rolls). The response was that even though the stamp is scheduled to be issued in less than two weeks, SFS has no stock numbers identified for this issue as yet and therefore the stamps cannot be ordered at this time. |

Just an update for any collectors of this issue. I contacted SFS today (01/03/2012) to order the stamps (today is the first day of issue).
You cannot order them on-line at the moment, since the stock numbers are no good for an electronic order. I called their 800# and spoke to a Customer Service Rep. and met with the same response. She then connected me to a Supervisor and they finally came up with a stock number to order a strip of 25 for collectors. The strip of 25 ($0.25 x 25 stamps = $6.25) are available under Stock No. 788430 (from the 3K coil) and 788530 (from the 25K coil).
It took some doing, but I think I finally got an order in process for me and due to be shipped in 5-7 days.
I just wonder how many other collectors have had the same difficulty in trying to order this new stamp issue. Ordinarily I would buy new stamps from my local post office, but as a Pre-Sort First Class rate stamp, they are not available locally in small quantities and are not being automatically distributed to local post offices anyway. |

Hey wt1. You want to sell a strip of 6? Perhaps in this situation, it's best to have a few people go in together, so you don't get stuck with stamps you can't use. |

I'm still waiting for the order to come in. Sounds like we can work something out after I receive the stamps.

wt1, if you happen to have another six for sale, I'd certainly like to purchase them from you. Let me know if this works. Thanks. |
