Many North Americans are not too into the stamps of our Southern neighbors in the Western Hemisphere..but I have been bitten by some kind of but and find myself scouring ebay for stock cards of Central and South American countries...aside from learning about Simon Boliver and San Martin in school we have much we can learn by studying the stamps of some of these areas !! Arrrggh..fell off my soapbox !!

I was making a joke based on your typo Phil.

As a dedicated Panama collector (and branching out into classic Venezuela, Chile, Peru and Colombia ...

Good stuff is hard to find at the right price.

Going through some kilo we purchased this year I have found quite a bit of South American stamps. Not a lot of Central and Mexico but mainly South. I find the designs to be appealing and the artwork to be beautiful, but if I branch out too much I can't keep focus and tend to push off my current countries. I still sort them and save them for trades or maybe some later endeavor but I'm just to busy with what I do already to pick up another country.

Being a coin collector my whole life I always admired the coinage of our brothers to the south (north not so much it all looks alike) but when you spread yourself out too much your left holding the bag for multiple (very) expensive hobbies. Maybe one day when I can afford an "international" album set I will put them to use... because I know for sure I will not make anymore country albums on my own :P too labor intensive and takes months to get just right.....

[w} Hope you enjoy your stay here in the Stamp Community, Chief.Fontenot!

I did collect coins as well, however, I could acquire some many more stamps as compared to coins!

Latin American is an interesting area of study, I find Mexico, early Mexico especially a lot of fun.

Chief I picked up Scott International albums when I could afford them..kind of wish I had gone with single country albums..the internationals leave out high values and any other set or single they feel like since they can not consolidate everything into those albums !

I start collecting Brazil since few months. At the Quebec Stamp Federation I met a collector that bought a dealer stock of Brazil stamps and he's selling what he don't need. Since I don't bring a list I end up having doubles. I will put them to auction during the holiday. Daniel
