OK, I have been sorting out all my recent banknotes and have ran across quite the quandary. I have a few 5¢ blue Grant banknotes that look like #255's. I cant locate the numbers in my scott catalog. Anybody know what they are?

#255 (1894) is chocolate brown, as is the 1895 270. Yours are 1898 #281 dark blue.

Jay,

If you've got a Scott Specialized catalog, the "Identifier of Definitive Issues" section in the front of the catalog can be a useful tool for quickly identifying the possible alternatives for a stamp design.

Apparently I need both a thesaurus and a specialized catalog. Maybe Santa will grant my request?

Granted, you may call him a Grantee, but I still believe he is a Grantor.
