Here's another postcard just placed on ebay. it is a real photo postcard of Hitler's birthplace, Braunau, Austria. On the reverse, there is a German stamp with a postmark on Hitler's birthday, April 20th. There is also an Austrian stamp with a propaganda slogan that translates to 'The Fuhrer Speaks.'

Wow Modern_Who You've taught me something once again. I didn't realize Hitler was born in Austria . I'ts kind of ironic, my Mother in Law is Ausrtian and she has many horror stories about the Germans Invading Austria during the War. Dianne |

Sounds like the same situation my wife's great-grandmother came from -- they didn't know whether she was Austrian or Italian -- she probably was "both". I'll have to check into it more. |

Because there seems to be the demand, I'll show you the propaganda postcards I have. I only own a handfull, but I'm pretty sure you'll like them I hope you don't mind if I post them in this thread, but I think opening another one with nearly the same title would be too redundant The first one is a postcard from the Reichsparteitag of the nazi party in Nürnberg, 5-10 Sept. 1934. The cancel is from Nürnberg, 5th Sept. 1934. So I guess it was sent from someone taking part in the Parteitag: Front: Image: prop1-1.JPG40.99 KB Back: Image: prop1-2.JPG36.71 KB |

Nice card. I have been to Nürnberg and it was rather ironic to find out that the 'Reichsparteitagsgelände' (the terrain where the big nazi-party rallies took place) was the only piece of historic Nürnberg not flattened in the war. All the famous churches and the city centre were about knee-high in 1945. As someone with a keen interest in the Middle Ages that is painful to see... even when the churches and important buildings have been reconstructed admirably.
Back to the original subject, I thought Hitler was from Linz but that is probably where he grew up. It is a strange fact that Hitler was Austrian, Stalin was Georgian and Napoleon was Corsican. |

But forgetting seems to be the politically correct consensus. Mustn't we all agree for the sake of political harmony? |

I have no idea what you are talking about... it sounds a bit like Orwellian newspeak. |

Hitler and Nazi stamps and covers are permitted.
Politically charged posts (Bush-bashing, Liberal-bashing, etc) with little or no relevance to stamp collecting will be moved to the general discussion forum or sometimes edited to retain the philatelic content of the thread in the main forum.
