Hello everyone
I am very happy to belong to this group. My name is David and I'm spanish
collector.
I'm collector of definitive stamps mainly.I'm currently gathering information
about The Great Americans series.

I have a doubt with the stamp Scott 1857 (see image).

is this a reprint?

Most likely just a case of slight over-inking. The stamp was issued May 28, 1981 and no varieties are catalog listed.

I share your feeling toward membership in this forum -- welcome!

In response to your question, I went to my duplicate file to see how much variance there was in the inking of the Rachel Carson issue. As you'll see, the majority of mine fall somewhere between your two examples with most being on the darker side.
