I've been on here a little while, but I thought I should introduce myself. I am a worldwide collector and got my start as many here did when I was nine years old. My collecting has ebbed and waned over the years until about three years ago I decided to collect the world and I've had a lot of fun so far. I am up to about 66,000 different world stamps and I use the Scott Internationals through 1976, then Minkus Global from '76 to '83 and then Harris Masterworks world supplements after that. It makes for a kind of eclectic collection. My inspiration for collecting the world began when I helped a friend of a family sell their estate of stamps that consisted of 175 3 ring binders with homemade pages. It was a lot of fun going through them and getting ideas. I write articles for my local stamp club newsletter and I am always interested in hearing about how people collect the world.
I also collect WW. Though it is a bit intimidating at times I find that I usually work on one to three countries at a time. The rest are sorted into small boxes and envelopes. I have one to 4 Binders for each country. I print my own pages to make it more affordable.
Welcome landoquakes (where exactly is that) - glad to have you join up with us. Looking forward to seeing some of your stamps and joining in on some great conversation. Sure is great to have you with us! - Jeff
Thank you for the welcome! I hope I will be able to contribute.
One of the other things I collect is Wacky Packages (parody stickers from the 1970's) and when these forums began on the Internet in the late '90's I chose my favorite sticker landoquakes as my handle. I am from Minnesota and Land-O-Lakes is really big around here. Landoquakes is a parody of Land-o-Lakes. http://applesandalligatorpears.file...doquakes.jpg I found that it is an easy name to remember.
Yes welcome landoquakes. I also collect world wide, mostly USA, Russia though. But boy one day I'll say I have that many stamps, but now it is about,I think 1,500 or so.
