I've been living my days with great serenity since I confessed the same thing a few days ago Phil. Welcome to my world.

Londonbus1 - we have kind of defined collectors as those who have 1, 2, or a few of each item and accumulators as those who go way overboard like I did last week. I bought hundreds and hundreds of duplicate stamps when I already had multiple copies of most. Why? I'm not sure.

Greg,

Yes, I understand that and I remember your post about the German Lots. I enjoyed reading it very much.
But why did we need to start another thread about the same subject ??
A special offer was posted on the other [same] thread to which no one replied.
Indeed, it seems quite common here to be jumping from one place to another about all kinds of subjects and it is often difficult to find something you were reading about yesterday.
For example, there are many threads here about topical subjects with members posting pics and comments about them. They are very enjoyable.
But they are all over the show.
Not in one place.
I wonder if it's possible for one of the 'Mods' to tidy up and organize the categories ??? It would be nice to see all the topicals [for example] in one place.

Just my opinion, that's all.[I'm not complaining]

Londonbus1......An accumulator, as posted elsewhere !!

I guess that makes you a compulsive accumulator, Laswabbie

Londonbus, that's the fun of this forum--you spent 10 minutes staring at the screen after getting sucked into the vortex created by the positive quantum proton energies developed by our resident physicist "American Psycho" (Phil) ,when you were actually transported into a black hole in space and spent days there trying to get out. And I cannot believe you just spent all this time reading this post of mine. Get back to work sorting stamps!

All funning aside. I would love a topical area also--mostly everyone knows I spent my first 1000 posts here scanning and posting topicals to draw interest in the beauty of stamps. I am the "TOPICAL QUEEN"!

Bob, I spend 23 hours a day trying to figure out how to be just like you. I guess the reason I bought them was to impress you!

Gussy, you are the Topical Queen and I'm glad you are. Those are some of my favorite threads.

London, I think it's the ecletic nature of the membership and the fact that new folks come in all the time. I kind of like the chaos!

I am not a hoarder, nor an accumulator. I am a collector. All my stamps are neatly mounted in albums, carefully noted, and within easy reach. Everything is well organised.

Ask Phil B. He's seen my collection and reference material.

I think I am an accumulator, however every single stamp is accounted for. I keep everything well organized and protected. I can find any stamp within a few minutes and that is saying something for as many as I have.

So it is possible to be an accumulator with the habits of a collector.

Even though I'm in a twelve step program for recovering accumulators, I have every one of the hundreds/thousands of items in my accumulated stamps in a 104BK stock card neatly organized by Scott number in one of a dozen 104 boxes in my closet. My pile of disorganized material is nearly gone. I even have a computerized inventory of everything now - including covers and "stuff."

Swabbie..i have a lot of minimum value stamps..some I will burn a 102 card on but they cost 2 cents each..some I will not file..i wonder how many months it would take to put them in red boxes like you have..it would cut down on space having them all in one book case !!

I guess I must be a combination of all you. Let me explain:

Like Phil I have thousands of stamps and many covers to be placed in albums.

Like swabbie I have mulple copies of many stamps. You'd think that after the 10th lot I'd realize that I'm just going to keep getting more of these common stamps.

Like Mkfarm I have everything sorted by country and safely stores in glassines and or archival quality boxes. I think it would be a streatch to say that I could find any stamp in a few minutes. With
over 200 countries to go through I'd have to be a human computer.

And as for you David I don't think I could ever be that organized. Good on you.

Oh by the way Londonbus If you consider the average age of most of us regulars you can blame the loss of brain cells due to age. I don't remember from one day to another what was posted so I can't even imagine remembering what was posted a couple of months ago.
