Phil,

Was that you that outbid me on the Gibbons Queen Victoria catalog on ebay an hour ago ? I hope so, as I rather it go to a friend than a stranger!

I have been searching ebay for some early classics, and they are rare. Also on the other stamp auctions sites. I have been considering rather to build a Brazil collection or not. I think China collections are gaining value faster than even US.

Lenabobby, The French stamps you show are relatively common, but to give you an example how close things are sometimes,

At the top iof your posting

Look at the 5c. green stamp on greenish paper. There are 2 types of it, one , #67 has the "N" of "INV" on the
very bottom under the "B" of REPUBLIQUE ( type I ) price used $40.

#78 same colored, etc. except that the "N" is under the "U" of REPUBLIQUE ( type II) price used .35

A factor of more than 100X.

BUTTTTT, oddly enough the (#68) 10c green, grnsh type I is $20.00, but the same type II (#79)is $200!

Why can't it be simple ?

Jim
