Hello And Need Some Help

i have recently come across a stamp holder which I believe is very old, nobody on the metal detecting forum could help with any history on it. anyway it was dug at about 12" in an old southern illinois community, any help would be great!

That's really neat! Do you go detecting by any chance? I'm not positive about it's identification but looks to me like it covered the opening on a coil stamp vending machine from the early part of the century. Good luck on your journey and Welcome to the forum!

After reading the description on the provided link I'm leaning more towards it being a part of a similar contraption. Still really neat! Congrats on your interesting stamp related find!
