The Correlation Between Philately And Prog/Rock Music

I have several friends who are into stamp collecting. When they are sorting their stamps they listen to music sometimes.
Without exception it is Prog/Rock music!!
None of them like pop, soul, or the modern rubbish from various talentless shows.
Has anyone else noticed this curious factor, only serious music lovers collect stamps?
Could it be that collecting stamps heightens one's appreciation of other excellent fields? I also love reading SF.
Are any of the other philatelists on here also lovers of SF and Prog music, long considered to go hand in hand anyway?

Its Metal for me and Hard rock some times some old blues recording Iam pretty much a headbanger from the 80's, At the moment I am listing to some aussie pub rock just found Coloured balls working mans boogie, and Chain some good tunes to sort out stamps too.

You will find every body here got some strange preferance to music

I have rather eclectic tastes. I listen to bluegrass and 50s country. My favorite genre would be rock from 1950 to 1980. Right now, I'm listening to Florence & The Machine.

While on SCF or in my stamps, I listen to a classical music fm radio station. I love rock and blues but I listen to it when I have a beer.

Metal all the way for me whatever I'm doing. Everything from classic 80's metal - Thrash - Folk Metal - some Death and Black etc

FM KBAQ,one guess as to what music is played.

Prog rock and Aussie pub rock is definitely more my husband's thing.
Me, I like celtic electric, acid croft, call it what you will, its a new take on traditional folk music, as practised by the likes of The Peatbog Faeries

I love classical music, mostly because my daughter is a pianist. My favorites are Mozart, Haydn and Rachmaninoff, depends on my mood at the time. I also love music from the 60's to 80's.

I have to agree Kirk. Too much of a distraction from the stamps.

It looks lovely and peaceful, though, just clear all that untidy crockery and stuff off the tables and there's lots of room for stamping!

I only wish I had a dinning room like that and that Nicole was still home to play for me?

I like a bit of everything. Music and SciFi and LOTR for decades and lots of other types of books too.

I agree with the appreciation aspect of things. Makes sense to me.

I think it's at the Halifax Club Puzzler. Not certain what end of town,but Nicole and her Husband are members and she often plays there for special events.
