[2/3: Edited to adjust thread subject]

I just received this stamp and am looking for confirmation as to its proper identification.

The stamp, on a folded letter, was identified as a #10, Pos 91L1E.

The correspondence was between bank cashiers and what remains of the content indicates the letter was written on August 19, 1851.

It seems to me that the date on the letter and the inner frame lines (Type II) support identification of the stamp as Scott 10A.

Thoughts?

Steve

It is definitely a #10A and position 91L1 but I can't confirm whether it is the early or intermediate state. I bet early state plating is correct since it is a fairly early usage.

Thanks for the confirmation, sinclair2010.

I was unsure initially but felt much more confident once I opened the letter and saw the date.
