Thanks everyone for the warm reception! It's great to see people with the same level of enthusiasm I have. One of my closest friends is beginning to wonder if I'm losing it (I think)...

I have a few stamps in the "Need to ID" sheet. I posted one this morning which was quickly ID'd (THANKS!) Hoping there are some folks out there who can determine if these two stamps are the same, or different - and which ones they are. #136, #147, #184, etc.....

I've been researching, and read that this die was re-issued a few year later with more defined lines and shading.

They are both perf 12, and do not have a watermark. When it comes to grill marks - I have to admit I have no idea as to how to determine if there is one, let alone which type of grill mark. Don't get me started on special paper types... (yikes!)

Will need to post larger images as the devil is in the details. I can see already the one on the left has no secret marks and the one on the right does. See this post for comparison.

Thanks for the recommendation Sallzer. Here are the same two images, just larger. I hope you'll explain the 'secret mark' comment. My son will think that's pretty cool.

I did kick myself a bit. After I posted the original images, I saw the other post you referred to, and said to myself "Should have bumped-up the res."

So without further delay...

Thanks!

Cardinal Bass.

Oh, BTW - I don't live in Uganda. I can't seem to change my profile information. I've got an email to the tech team to see what gives.

See here for the secret mark details. This is an excellent source of information and a must bookmark page for any US collector.
