there ya go - we are making philatelic definition history!

Quick, someone with a wikipedia account go edit the se-tenant article to include self-adhesive(positional) se-tenants, and use this thread as a reference!

From Linn's Stamp News

The United States has also issued self-adhesive coil stamps with different designs, such as the 1993 and 1995 Christmas stamps, each with four different designs. However, the stamps are die-cut and separated, not attached to one another, and cannot properly be defined as se-tenant, unless the backing can be considered as holding them together.

What does one do with the wanna be se-tenant self-adhesive stamps put out now? What could they be called?

Say a strip of five different stamps with designs that are joined together but now the stamps aren't joined, except when new and still in the booklet or sheet?

Positional Se-Tenants.

The term has been used already in some parts.

How about a fancy French term that means "self adhesive sets"? If French doesn't have a nice ring to it, we could try Italian, German or Latin.

So, if you stopped 76-79, what after that era turns you off? Volume? Theme of stamps? The USPS vs USPOD?

It's mainly the quality of designs/themes and sheer volume that make them undesirable to me. Just too many in the latter I just don't care to see or let alone pay for is what I mean. I like the early ones due to their attention to detail, printing method (intaglio preferred) and the beautiful color spectrum that was used. It's just easier for me to focus on, spot and possibly specialize in varieties.

Sounds pretty good, especially the word "ensemble".
