the CDS (Circular Date Stamp) without a date is common usually sent out on 4th class (Junk) mail.

Not very common that I am aware of. The clerk removed the previous day's plug and did not load the current day's plug

This type of cancellation is called a 'dumb' or 'nude' cancellation because it lacks the middle indicia.

They are really not scarce at all and were intended for use mainly on city 'drop mail' or for larger bulk mailing such as flyers and pricelists etc.

If you check under a recent posting from me under "Coin Cover" you will see another example.

Unusual example because it doesn't have a year. I agree that the "mute date" cancels were common on bulk rate mail back in the day, as these two examples from Hawaii demonstrate, however, in these examples, they did include a year, even though a day and date was intentionally omitted:

Hi,

I don't have more detail about that. This CDS is on a sheet with other CDS. Probably cut by a child. Anyway it is interesting to have one like that :-)

I tried to invert color to see something with paint... There is nothing.
