A "machin" is a familiar long-running GB definitive featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth based on a sculpture by Arnold Machin (pronounced may-chin).

It si a popular series to collect as it has been going since the pre-decimal days, and has a large numbers of values and colours, and regional variations, as well as the more complex varieties and errors.

rbobbo87,

If you decide to collect some, there a good resource here: http://www.adminware.ca/machin/m_album.htm

There's paid and free versions of print-at-home Machin albums and lots of dedicated Machin information.
