Amazing! Quite a hoard. The US collection is wonderful, including some CSA, postal currency, covers, cinderellas. Everything a collector like me could want. Too bad I don't have a few extra G's lying around. |

Why are valuable stamps in such a mess ??? I don't collect much U.S. but I would rather spend my 1500 on a clean set of zepps than sorting heaven...i might go 300 dollars to do the sorting !! |

There are some beautiful stamps there. Now for a question. I scanned the first few pages of US material and cropped out of it this example of a 30c Columbian. Can anyone tell me anything about the New York postmark? I don't recall ever seeing a double oval cancellation with a full day/date in the center circle before. Was this a common postmark from that day? It appears quite unusual (to me anyway.) |

Unused $3 Columbian, .25 postal currency, and lots and lots of $10-$100 items. I'd like to know the story behind the person who collected this! |

Cul_Lector,
Geezzze , I wish it was mine , I saw it last night and put it on my watch list ( yeah , like I'm gonna bid now ) ..... just thought it was one of the more interesting collections up for sale ..... will be interesting to see the final bid. I'm no expert but it seems as though the "collection, lot" prices are starting to rise. Hey , maybe a new bubble !

Jimbob believe me if you are patient you will see nice worldwide collections for a fraction of $1500..the worldwide collections (i am a worldwide collector) just do not bring the money that single country collections do..boy, on ebay people can sure get carried away with their bidding..if you are starting out...don't go crazy..the opportunities will come ! |

Wow! That's quite something.
Obviously, the seller thinks it's going to fetch a pretty penny. He went to the trouble of taking and posting 978! photos... which means lots and lots of people are going to look at "their" area of interest and decide they "HAVE to have it, because of the ____."
I'm looking forward to seeing where this ends up-- collections like this seem to get FAR higher bids on ebay than they would at a brick-and-mortar stamp auction.
Maybe worldwide collecting (at least on the period covered by the Scott "classic") is on the upswing again.
Thanks for sharing this! ~Peter |

Wow and wow. Definatly an investor lot for the most part or a quick worldwide fix. Not really up to date with the China frenzy but looks like that section alone will bring bug bucks. |

Thank you for posting this. I have to say for all the years I have watched e-bay it is very rare to see a collection like this left intact! Most sellers would remove things like $3 columbians for a separate sale. Kudos for the seller keeping it in one piece.
Some interesting things though. It must be a very old collection to have high dollar stamps like that mixed in with really common stuff. The bulk would have to been put together in the 1930's. Weren't dollar value Colombians getting on the pricey side by the '40's?

That is one thorough collection, but I also notice that a lot of the high values from countries / sets are not there. I wonder if those were pulled out and sold separately. Still, think of the fun going through that collection and the time someone has into building it. |
