I recently purchased a roll of 100 of each, USPS #778105 & #708105, and neither one has back numbers. Maybe the frequency of the printing of the numbers is larger than 100? Anybody know?

I have both varieties purchased from SFS awhile ago (different stock #'s than they have now). In any case, the 2002 (original printing) has back numbers (printed in red) every 10 stamps; the 2012 (reprint) has no back numbers at all.

I tried to determine if there were any visual changes to the stamps and posted my findings at the link below, however, most who responded suggested that the minor shading and/or spacing of the date was most likely attributed to color registration (or misregistration) than anything else, thus the reason why the stamps are both #3612, as they are otherwise identical and never warranted a minor Scott number variety.

They stopped putting back numbers on gummed stamps when they could not find a new source for food grade ink. So, coils that were initially back numbered, reappeared without back numbers when they were reprinted.
