Hi Everyone,
I have this stamp, and most of the time, I can identify a stamp through Scott catalogs and the Internet, but am having trouble with this one.

I am wondering the date, and what is written on the stamp and what the name of the mountain / lake.

Thank you so much,
SueStamps

Think it might be from a 1937 set - SG318 "Lake Taisho, Kamikochi" - as to what is written on the stamp my Japanese is limited to sushi and sake

I think it is from the 1937-45 series, specifically 1939 5s ultra dark SC#262 Mount Hodaka. Scott's doesn't name the lake.

Perhaps Stanly Gibbons names the lake while Scott relies on the mountain. Again, a reason for having more than one kind of catalogue.

Thank you so much for the both of you for the great information. Does Stanley Gibbons have their catalogs on DVD? Or any other company stamp catalog on DVDs?

Thank you,
SueStamps
