Hello friends!

Here one of my favorites!. Great Britain Scott #61 - SG #143, plate 14 / From London "89" to Aniane, France; the cover shown:

Front: Diamant cancel "eA LONDON - 89 - JUL/2/1874" and "ANG. CALAIS - JUL/3/74" and "PD" (Postage Paid in red).



Back: Arrived cancel. to "ANIANE - JUL/4/74" via "PARIS - JUL/3/74" - "PARIS A LYON - JUL/3/74" - "LYON A MARSEILLE - JUL/4/74" - "TARRASCON A CETTE...JUL/4/74"

The stamps are nice, I always reflect that it is such a shame, the Victorians were so insitant upon such heavy cancels.
I think you may also perk more interest if you use Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers when showing English stamps. It is the prefered catalogue over here in that country.
Nice envelopes though, always nice to see canceled stamps on their original medium and it adds to the value.

Thanks for your kind comments and observations. I have they two catalogues. For GB the Stanley Gibbons Specialized Queen Victoria, but in Mexico Scott is more popular. Yes, the heavy cancellations in the GB stamps are horrible! .

interesting Rodolfo - I always admire the "hand writing" from that time period - so much better than modern day "scrawls" you see on a lot of lellers
