Hi all,

I have been collecting art for some time now and aside from a few rarer pieces am quite happy with my collection so far.

Stamps have always interested me, however, I have neglected them in pursuit of paintings. Recently I have come across the Futsches Reich stamps which I find fascinating.

I have searched high and low for any on sale but have not yet found any. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much they typically cost? I have been considering approaching one of the larger stamp dealers such as Stanley Gibbons to see if they could obtain one for me but I do not know if this is something they offer or could do.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or my use of incorrect terminology. These are the first stamps which have really caught my eye, however, I would like to eventually learn more about Commonwealth stamps.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Floortrader: Would be awesome to see them.

Londonbus1: A fascinating read. Out of interest are there any other stamps out there with such an unusual and interesting history?

rod222: Thanks for putting the image up. I have been racking my brain as to where I have seen a similar image before and I realised it was from the John Carpenter movie, They Live.

Stampy UK,
The easiest way to learn about Commonwealth stamps is to buy the Stanley Gibbons catalogue. It may seem expensive but it contains a wealth of information. If it is beyond your reach a second hand older issue is almost as good as most of the info contained applies year after year.

Even though these are relatively inexpensive issues, forgeries abound. You have to careful because some sellers aren't clear in their ads whether they're selling the original forgery, or a forgery of the original forgery. The ad shown above is a prime example -- those imperf mini sheets are forgeries of the original forgery.
