Greetings everyone.

I have been lurking your forums for quite some time now, and it seems like people here are very nice and friendly, so I decided to register and hopefully become a part of your community.

A little about myself and my interest in stamps. I am from Denmark and I am a stamp novice. The first time I dipped my toe into the stamp world was around 20 years ago, when I and a few friends of mine found the interest of stamps and went to the stamp dealer a few times to get some older danish stamps. We soon went on to other interests and left the stamps behind us.

About a month ago I went to visit my father and we decided to take a look at his stamp collection. At first my interest was in the old danish stamps, but after a while looking at his collection I saw this old looking album named "Schwaneberger", which was bought by my great-grandfather in 1918. Most of the stamps are from British Colonies and a few other countries in Europe. This got me thrilled and I brought home the album, and after a few weeks trying to identify the stamps looking a various websites I bought a commonwealth and British empire catalogue.

At this point older stamps (Victoria) from Britain and British colonies have my interest, but I think I will have to narrow it down a bit further. At this time I am trying to figure out how to get started, needing almost everything, but I have really enjoyed my new hobby so far - even though I haven't acquired a single stamp :)

Sorry about this post being so long.

Regards Fourjacks

It's amazing how many people's interest in stamps gets rekindled after a 20-30 year hiatus..mine included :)

Welcome.

Thank you for the welcome.

Today I ordered some Queen Victoria commonwealth stamps, which will be the first stamps in my own collection.
I can't wait to get started.

Fourjacks, you have an interest that is near and dear to my heart Victoria. I enjoy all her stamps as well as many many others. But the old QVs just make we want to hoard them as opposed to collecting. WELCOME and I look forward to lots of trading down the road. - Jeff
