Here is what I have for a USS Forrestal cover.
It has some tonning where it looks like an address label was removed.

Sept 2nd 1864 Sherman's forces occupied Atlanta
Septemper 2nd President Theodore Roosevelt gave his walk softly carry a big stick speech at the Minnesota State fair
September 2nd 1930 the first non stop flight from Eourope to the US was made
September 2nd 1945 Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam an independant republic
September 2nd 1969 Ho Chi Minh Died

September 2nd has been a busy day in history but I belive you where refering to the surrender of Japan !
