Okay, someone asked for more pictures from the lot.

A few cindys:

A neat $ 1.00 precancel:

I thinking these are both 114s, but that dark blue one has me asking a few questions as the grill (if it is there and I think it is) is really the wrong size as I am measuring 7mm X 11mm which cannot be possible, or I could be making up that there is a grill there.

A nice E14. I love the color and details on this one.

I like the color variations on these:

Have no clue what this is, but not a stamp either:

A pair of 399 :

A coin Stamp:

And for the WW people these are the first ones I grabbed out of the WW stamps I separated out. I have no clue yet on these as I just threw them on the scanner off the top of the pile of a couple hundred stamps. Some strange ones to me there.

Hello all,

Just an update on this lot on one particular stamp. The picture of the three cent group really interested me and with the guidance of ray.Mac I decided to send in the top left stamp to be id-ed. And it came back as a 64b rose pink. Yeah...my first pink that I know of so now I have a reference for future stamps. And there happens to be a couple others in this lot that may have to get in the mail at some point.

Thank you ray.Mac for being my teacher.

Still have more to come from this lot but have been busy and neglecting my stamps and SCF.

I was really kidding sirruspoe I wouldn't really expect you take an offer like that! I really am starting to take a liking to the idea of studying the 65's kind of what you are doing. Right now I'm fixated on the small banknotes and their varieties (especially the 2˘ denominations)and, of course proofs. Thank you for the interesting conversation via this post. Wish I could add something insightful but I cannot- yet. -Jeff (ILS)

Your earlier post showing a green ticket with Washington's portrait on the front and the reference "Capital Traction Company" was a ticket for a ride on the streetcar service that was in operation in Washington, DC. The name "Capital Traction Company" was only used from 1895-1933, so you can at least date the ticket in that range. I would say that your example is one of the older varieties of that ticket, which probably dates back to the 1920s.

ILS I knew you were kidding. I have had fun with this lot considering I spent 90.00 on another lot that had a pretty long description of how the stamps were collected and when only to get numerous duplicates of really common items. So put those two buys together and I might be okay, but that second one is frustrating to say the least. I love the 64, 65, grills on this issue, but have so much to learn. I'm also in love the banknotes as well.

I've been following all your threads on the banknotes and that nice proof that you finally got straightened out.

WT1 thank you for that great information. You always are full of insightful suggestions and information. I really like the ticket andknow have some information to go along with it. Thanks again.

For $10 you sure didn't get hurt. I've bought a lot of stamps in the bulk like this and If you can find 20 stamps you can use. It's a good buy for the money. I always wind up with a few stamps you will get 15 or 20 of because somebody is wanting to dump their duplicates but so what? Donate the ones you don't want to your local Boy Scout troop.

Your 114 may be a "split-grill". Not unusual with the pictorials. Just a thought. Love the coin stamp and the FARE pass. Great stuff! Thank you for showing it. -Jeff

Tinman, I think it was a good deal so far have not really been back to these lately. And right now I cannot bring myself to part from any of my US stamps no matter how many dups I have of a particular stamp.

ILS thanks for visiting the thread again. As above I need to get back to this lot at some point, but have been working on placing stamps in albums lately.

Interesting idea on the 114 and I also enjoy the coin stamp as I have one other.

I'm staring at the WW selection. You have some pre-soviet Russian Empire stamps there, and one from Ukraine during the brief period of independence from 1918-1919. I think there may even be a stamp from the Kingdom of Bavaria. That's some cool stuff.

Apastuszak thank you for the information. I was so overloaded at the time I put these and a bunch more up for auction here for a dollar and didn't get no bites. May try again at a later date.

If you have a smart phone, install Google Goggles on it. Launch the app and take a picture of the stamp. It will attempt to do a search off the picture. Might help reveal some of the stuff you have.

Funny Apastuszak I've had that app forever and I do not think I have ever used it for stamps. Thanks for the idea and I will certainly put it to use now.
