I just stumbled across this site and it seems like a nice place.
I have collected stamps since I was a child touring Europe with the Family in the 70's. I ended up pooling some of the collections of my two older brothers
And then mostly off and on again.
I had a resurgence in the 80's while a graduate student at the University of California at Davis and one of the local Sacramento clubs.
Then off and on again.
A few years ago I took possession of my fathers somewhat extensive collection (mostly US) and have more recently been sorting through to see what is there and what needs preservation.
I collect a lot of things, US mint and used and back of book things;
an older neglected world collection; a lot of blocks and plate blocks (mostly more modern).
I also have a emphasis on Canada due to my marriage to a Canadian, and a long time interest in accumulating all stamps depicting plants. Particularly those that include the Latin binomial as well as common names (being a plant biologist, the scientific names make the images particularly pleasing).
Perhaps a long introduction, but it seems to cover the bases.
Cheers,
