I can recall two areas of interest that really had a effect on my collecting...the first are the Dutch "for the children" semipostals of the 1950's !!

the second was the overprinted Guatemala quetzals of the late 19th century ! Who can say what attracts us to a particular item ??

Fascinating topic Phil, and fascinating topicals too. I have never seen either before now.

One could go very deep trying to explain one's choices but you could also just say I like these for some reason. They strike a chord with me.

very nice philb and way interesting topic - I dont know why but my main area of interest is African related material - as to why I have no idea

I used to collect the Netherlands and South American nations but, dropped them so that I can concentrate more on the few countries I decided to keep.

BTW - did you email me your address? To date I haven't received it so that I can send you the Guatemala card.
