I need some info about a 2 cents stamp. Year and what models it was made. My grandfather is a collector and he has passed away. He left "a" stamp on top of a foam in a small container . I believed no one has touched it for 2-3 decades now.

Regards

Hello PeteStamps, welcome!

Is it possible to take a picture close up of the stamp? Or a scan on a flat bed scanner is much better for paper products like stamps usually.

If someone knows anything we will surely help you.

Or if no picture, can you describe it very very well? Do you know about perfs (perforations) or how to measure them ( so many holes per 2cm)?

Or watermarks pressed into paper before the stamp design was printed upon the paper? That is, if your stamp has a watermark. Some do not.

What cou ntry is it from? What picture or design is on the stamp? What colour(s) is it? Is it postally used (cancelled with some sort of postal marking) or mint with gum on the back? And so on . . .

Thanks Puzzler.

It's American. Saw it earlier but wasn't able to take a pic. I'll do it tomorrow though. Can't scan it. My pops use this little twezzer to hold it. We don't have that anymore. Unfortunately, don't know anything about perfs and watermarks. If I can recall correctly, it's his favorite and they say it only has 400, 40 or maybe 4 like it..I really don't know. Anyway, it's still around so might as well research about it.

He still has 3 files of stamps and coins but it's still tucked away in the old bolt. I'm only interested in his favorite.

Regards.

Without seeing the stamp its tough to tell. Maybe if he always had plenty of dough - and liked to give his grandkids real silver dollars when they visited - he might have had a good collection. Does that sound like the guy? Otherwise, I would not be overly optimistic,
