Found these in a recently purchased lot.

Poland #1 is a little ratty, but uncommon enough to not trash.

I don't know the ratio of inverted to normal surcharges, but in this lot it was 1:1

murdo01,

Welcome to the forum. The top two are not Polish. The Poles use the Latin alphabet. The one on the left is Bulgarian and maybe a number 24 with an 01 overprint. The one on the right is Russian and is either a 36 or 67. Both Russian and Bulgarian stamps use the Cyrillic alphabets.

Nice finds though.

The Bulgaria stamp is #40 in Scotts with a inverted overprint ,worth $6.00 in the catalog .
The ratty stamp is the first issue of Poland with a WARSAW cancel.Poland was under the Russian Postal Administration and it was later taken over by Russia. The stamp is very similar to the Russian emission. The stamp is typographed, center embossed on thick and thin yellowish paper.

I went back the catalog, on CD, and the first time did not go to the top of the page and missed that Polish stamp. Thanks for the correction floortrader. I need to be more observant next time.

Thanks.

I knew what these stamps were, but was excited to have found them and wanted to share. It's good to have new additions to the collection.

I probably wouldn`t observe it, but indeed, the Turkish pair is nice. Error listed in Michel, #85 l , and I guess it should reach more than 50% of CV, as it`s in pair. (2005 CV 20 Eur). Well done Nigelc. As for the last two (Mi # 75 & 77), the ratio is not mentioned, but Michel states, that forged overprints abund. Usually the right frame of the overprint is missing. No, it says allways: ~Bei echten Aufdrucken fehlt IMMER der rechte Rahmen, meist sind sie nur teilweise abgeschlagen~. Only a few postally used are known, higher values (1,2 and 5 piaster usually CTO`s). According to these, these are forged overprints (at first sight, and I`m not an expert in Turkey!). But the Italian overprints are really nice! And anyway, a nice find.
