It finally came out! Quote: They sent me a nasty message in the past saying my 100% feedback was not good enough and that I had to improve upon it.!
My reply was, Thank You for contacting 'smartstamp'. In England when we are taught math, we learn that 100% is just about as perfect as you can get! People did it to you. They secretly stabbed you in the back with bad feedback and turned the ebay robot on and put your name into it with their keyboard. Your customers were controlling that robot so it would say what they were to cowardly to do themselves. |

KGV, Yes you are right. ebay continue with a system that allows buyers to praise the seller to their face and mark them down in the star ratings. Yet; when hitting the BUY button, those same people are agreeing to a contract which includes those very same aspects as covered in the ratings. HOW FAIR IS THIS??? A ridiculous system that perpetuates unfairness. So 100% becomes totally meaningless. So why have it?? The other day I went to buy something on ebay and a message came up:- This item is unavailable to you, contact us Contact who? Never ever yet had a reply from a human being in the 5 years I have used ebay. So I wrote to the dealer and bought it direct. Now on CQout, bidStart and ebid, the buyer is not subject to this appalling lack of customer service. I have used them in exactly the same way "paid much less in commission" and never had a single problem. Wonder why I think ebay is trash??! |

xyL When I came back to stamp collecting I discover ebay and Paypal. What a great experience it was, simple, clear and convenient for me. I also shop on Delcampe, Bidstart, Zillions of Stamps and others very few times. I also shop on dealers websites. Since I start with ebay I tend to go there first. They are very user friendly and Paypal too. I don't mind to much the fees when I look for stamps I want. To make it short I have favorite dealers on ZOS, Delcampe and Bidstart but I didn't made statistic and accounting to know if all my purchases on those sites outdo ebay. I doubt... |

I use ebay and delcampe, along with a few others. I have had absolutely no problems with ebay(so far). I was told one time by a collector much more experienced than I;there is a secret to using e bay. His advice, arm yourself with knowledge. On e bay and else where for that matter, knowledge is power. Obviously do not deal with dealers and countries that have bad reputations. I know as a seller as well as a buyer that e bay's system is less than perfect. I have however dealt with dealers who had less than 100%. I usually check the bad feed back and have found some to be more buyers stupidity than dealers bad service. |

timbres and buzz, I am not surprised in the slightest that you both have good experiences. In every dealing I have ever had on any site with Canadians, the experience has always been first class in every way. You are a very honest and reliable nation. Unfortunately for me postage is a factor when it comes to selling and buying though so I try to get the best deal I can, taking it into account. So this is when it becomes difficult to just deal with your countrywomen. I also add Poland is a very pleasant and honest nation too. So all we have to do is set up ebay in Poland or Canada and we would all be laughing. Notice I do not name the nations that are argumentative, mean and problematic; they know who they are!! |

Quote:So all we have to do is set up ebay in Poland or Canada and we would all be laughing. Ah, the new industry for the Maritime provinces or Newfoundland and Labrador. Caribou Valley instead of Silicon Valley. Instead of Feedback where you tell how much you dislike something about a person, we now have Blueberries where you tell what you appreciate about somebody, and if you can't say something good, you don't say anything. And nobody owes you anything so really good customer service will shine through the mists while poor service will be lost in the dim fogs of obscurity. |

The example a couple of pages back showing common US stamps on a Confederate States page was striking. The item was put up on ebay by someone who knows nothing at all about stamps. He is a bric-a-brac dealer and was probably trying to post as much as possible in a short time. Aside from dealers like this guy, there are many ebay consignment companies that do the work of posting, wrapping and shipping etc. I am sure that they don't spend much time on researching the description. I don't think that it is really ebay's fault. It's true were much better and more fun in 1997, but I still buy stamps there occasionally. |

bzurer I am with you...it was fun and easier back in the late 90's a collector or dealer described a stamp album box lot for 30 or 40 bucks and we both understood what was going on...sure I still find a country album at a good price on ebay and wonder why no one else bid on it...but it can take hours of trolling !! |
