For the last week I have not received any of my "topic subscription" emails. They have just stopped cold. Everything looks right on my side. Any ideas?

I've experienced a similar problem, not only with topic subscriptions but also with forum emails sent to/from other members.

Now here is a twist - I seem to have lost my ability to email and do subscriptions to topics the same day I made a donation and became a site supporter??

Just checked and all emails are going out.

Scouter, you've got AOL email which is, by far, the worst on the planet. I gave up troubleshooting them years ago because they just don't care. When I hit 10 hours a week fiddling with them I stopped trying to appease the AOL Gods. They decide for you what is spam and what is not and give you no say in the matter.

I'm getting subscriptions just fine....



As far as sending emails, the security question was recently changed, plus not all members allow email to be sent to them. Are you getting an error message?

Perhaps you could send me a test email?

I am still intrigued by the fact that at the date I ceased getting subscriptions is when I became a site supporter?? Could my status have been changed? I have been a forum member for quite a while and have never had an aol related problem so I am inclined to consider other possibilities as well.

Why do you keep hitting the notes to Staff? Please don't, it just creates more work.

bobby131313 - at your request I have not marked send to staff. Your email did not arrive. I have spoken to aol and we can find no issues. I have not received any response from "contact us" at the forum. That is why I tried send to staff and was grateful for a response. I see that is not to be encouraged. Again, I am very suspicious that I lost my emails and subscriptions when I donated as a site supporter. I have been around computers and programming for 30 years and I always like to rule out other events that happen at the same time a problem arises. Any other members that can help with ideas I would appreciate it.

Well I have sent several emails to myself and they all arrive in seconds. I am subscribed to the entire support forum and am receiving every subscription notice. I even added my email as a BCC to the subscription code for a bit and I'm getting everyones. Given this and that only a couple people are having this issue, I don't see how it can be an issue with the forum. The supporter flag has nothing to do with email functions whatsoever.

The send note function is fine to use for what is is intended for. Posting here and sending a note to staff is redundant.

I could have told you they would say that. They lie. Tell them you are a big boy and can handle your own email without Their interference. (Frustration is aimed at them not you.) This is the crap they do and I have to deal with it at least 3 or 4 times a week.

Tried to change my email address to two different emails I have available including my gmail account and I received this forum message -

There Was A Problem With Your Details

Your request was not sent due to the following error: The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server.

Bobby,

My email account is with Verizon.

I purchased some sale items from Jamesw yesterday. He indicated that he emailed me via the forum. I did not receive his email.

I have four items listed for auction since Saturday and am subscribed to each. Four different members have replied to two of those threads but I have yet to receive a notification.

I am subscribed to multiple other topics, many of which have had postings yet I have not been receiving notifications for the past several days.

I just sent you a test email via the forum and will be interested in learning if I am still able to send/receive email to/from forum members.

Bas S Warwick has tried twice to email me for a auction item and I have not received anything yet, I use hotmail but do not know what he uses to send.

I have not been able to get aol, gmail, or qwestoffice to work. I also think the forum has been VERY sluggish in the last 24 hours.

Yes, has been sluggish for me a few times in spurts also. I have an email in to our host.

I, also, have not been getting topic subscriptions.

I even subscribed to this particular topic started by Scouter and have heard nothing, even though there have been numerous posts.

My email is with sbcglobal.net.

I hope that staff will have some response to this issue. It is clear it is not isolated and the symptoms are all the same which include no email or topic subscription (which is just email). It would seem there is a problem in the email server. And as I posted above, I cannot change my email in my profile to an alternate email - I get an error message. Since we can't send email we can only communicate by these postings which one hopes are being read by people who can investigate the issue.
